Publisher Description:
Though all groups suffer from armed conflict situations, there is sufficient evidence that such conflcits are gendered and women's already marginalised positions worsens when such conflcits do occur.Using Critical Discourse Analysis, this book suggests that women in Northern Ghana suffered tremeandously in the 1994 "Guinea fowl" conflcit that occurred in Northern Region of Ghana and this is not different from experiences of women else where. I particularly focused on feminist analysis of the impact of armed conflcits. The invisibility of women in the peace building process was also evident after the cessation of hostilities. The book therefore strongly argues for women's inclusion since their voices need to be heard. This will ensure that women's concerns and experiences are included in the peace building process.Women by the dint of their perculiar experiences will also bring a positive face to conflict resolution by emphasising on basic and family needs. Conflict resolution must therefore be done by depending on the human rights agender for both men and women.
