Publisher Description: These are the memoirs of a 97+ year old lady, Marie Arndt Skinner, who has been a state beauty pageant winner, a national musical touring performer, an internationally known artisan, and an antiques expert and restoration professional. Her life spans living in Berwick PA; Hayward, CA; Chicago, IL; Detroit, MI; Princeton, NJ; Philadelphia, Bloomsburg, Eagles Mere, Mercersburg and Lehigh Valley, PA, Chevy Chase, MD and short periods in many other locations. To her three living generations of family she is known as Mom, Nana, and Gigi. This autobiography contains many photographs from the author's own albums, public domain images that help personalize the stories, and full color photos of her unique and widely recognized Victorian artwork, including reverse painting on glass, theorem painting on velvet, bronze stenciling, and others. The book is a an excellent example of how family history can be documented in an interesting and readable way to leave a written legacy for future generations. Marie Arndt Skinner's son, Ric Skinner, contributed substantially to the book's material and her daughter, Marilee Skinner Hollister, assisted with many of the photos. Some of her Victorian artworks are available for sale at marieart.myshopify.com. |
