| Publisher Description: English summary: Of all of the Martin Luther texts which are frequently quoted, it is his table talks which receive the most attention, although their critical analysis is still in its initial stages. The tradition which began in the 16th century continues to determine the perception and the evaluation of these sources today. However the conditions under which it originated, the history of its transmission and the literary connections are just as difficult to explain as are the hermeneutic prerequisites for their adequate interpretation in the setting of current research in theology, history and the culture of remembrance. In this volume, the authors explore this complex situation from various perspectives. They attempt to list the existing material, which considerably exceeds the documentation in the Weimar edition, and discuss various ways of interpreting and continuing to work on the table talks and the edition. German description: Die Tischreden gehoren zu den meist zitierten Texten Martin Luthers - und doch auch zugleich zu denjenigen, deren kritische Analyse noch in den Anfangen steckt. Die schon im 16. Jahrhundert geformte Tradition ist bis heute bestimmend fur die Wahrnehmung und Auswertung dieser Quellen. Dabei sind ihre Entstehungsbedingungen, Uberlieferungsgeschichte und literarischen Verknupfungen ebenso schwierig zu erhellen wie die hermeneutischen Bedingungen fur ihre angemessene Deutung im Horizont gegenwartiger theologischer, historischer und erinnerungskultureller Forschung.
