Publisher Description:
The King's Son (25,000 words), an adventure story for children aged 9 upwards, is set hundreds of years ago in a Middle Eastern country setting. My hope is that this story might be seen as acceptable to different racial cultures. David, the only son of King Boneh is twelve and leads a lonely guarded life. He breaks out of the palace in disguise and gets accidentally enslaved, but also finds a friend John, an orphan country boy, who doesn't believe at first that David is the King's son. A series of adventures ensue in desert country among warring tribes. The futility of wars based upon a history of mistrust is exposed. David with his friend risk their lives in attempting to bring tolerance and peace. A slave girl called Larna and Bern, the spoilt cocky son of Chief Sirdar of the Goaners, also play significant roles in the story.
