Publisher Description:
Shannon choked on the memories that flooded her after stopping in front of the house of her murdered friend. She didn't realize there was an army of fatal memories waiting.... After five years in prison for killing her father, Shannon returns to her hometown. She remained adamant that she was innocent, but couldn't remember the awful night her father was stabbed and burned to death. Nor could she remember what had happened to her mother. After her friend and adopted mother, Katherine asked for her help, she witnessed how the woman had spiraled into drugs and alcohol. Shannon begins to look for answers. Who killed her friend and her father and what happened to her drug addicted mother? What has happened to the ''perfect mother, '' Katherine? After asking questions about the unsolved murder of her friend, she receives warnings from the chief of police to "mind her P's and Q's. After she is chased into Satan's Swamp, fighting quickmud, alligators and snakes, she makes it her mission to find out. She reunites with childhood friend, Tamantha Jean Davis, the town slut. Tamantha begs her to meet her at the old cemetery and begs Shannon to help her get away from the drug running and violence she was involved in with the Chief. In the dark cemetery, Tamantha is shot and the two women take off. They are first the pursued through the swamps and bayous, then after running away into Voodoo Bayou, they arrive at Tante Mambo's shack and the Voodoo priestess performs a ceremony for the protection of the two women. Armed with Talismans and Erzulie, Voodoo Goddess, they become the pursuers.
