Publisher Description: This book considers the work of two theologians from differing epochs and asks the question how each constructs their Christology. Anselm of Canterbury utilized an a priori methodology from above featuring the cross and incarnation, and Wolfhart Pannenberg utilized an a posteriori methodology from below featuring the resurrection. While the duration of time between Anselm of Canterbury (1033-1109 CE) and Wolfhart Pannenberg (1928-204) is extensive, the principles of Christology are not necessarily limited by time. If Christologies are not limited by time, there can be fruitful understanding from such a study. Anselm and Pannenberg, while situated in two distinct historical periods, are brought together for the purposes of discovering how the composition of Christologies affect their outcomes, and Christology as a whole. |
